Dave hasn't done his weekly analysis yet this week, but I feel compelled to make some of my own comments.

With all of the hubbub in the market over the last few days, it might seem strange to talk about capital gains. For the most part, it seems that people are more worried about how to curb losses than how to pay taxes on gains.

Even casual consumers of financial media have almost certainly heard the term "flight to quality" bandied about. Can we still consider the US government's balance sheet "quality"?
